Director & Head Coach
Frank is a PTR teaching Professional at the Highlands Ranch Tennis Pavilion in Highlands Ranch, Co as well as a coach for the Intermountain Tennis Association 14 and under Junior Zone Team. He is a trainer for both the USTA Recreational Workshops and Quickstart Tennis Training Workshops. Frank has been named the USTA Magazine Grass Roots Hero, twice the Colorado Wheelchair Tennis Foundation Pro of the Year, Minority Coach’s Workshop Arthur Ashe Jr. Award recipient, and twice the Professional Tennis Registry Colorado Professional of the Year.

 

Tobias Ortegon

Tennis Coordinator, Denver Parks & Recreation
A UPSTA certified tennis professional, Tobias grew up in Denver and was a former #1 men’s tennis player at Metro State. Tobias has served the past 20 years as a Recreation Coodinator for Denver Parks & Recreation. He is currently based at the La Alma Recreation Center. In addition, he oversees Denver Parks & Recreation tennis programs as Tennis Coordinator through the Citywide Sports division He is a prior recipient of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Award from the Colorado Tennis Association for his community service work through tennis in Denver.

 

Christina Walker

Denver Urban Youth Coach
Christina has been teaching tennis for over 10 years. She played varsity tennis in high school and at Carlton College. Christina was all-conference four years in college, and two years all-confernce in doubles. She is a USPTR certified tennis instructor who tested up to Professional rank instructor, and was awarded the PTR coach of the year for Colorado in 2011. She has done work with the USTA National office in NY, serving as a counselor and coach for their annual leadership camp for inner city kids for the past 8 yrs, as well as assisting in Arthur Ashe Kids Day as an on-court coach.

 

Hugo Jimenez

Denver Urban Youth Coach
Hugo is a USPTA certified tennis professional. He coaches in Star Search Tennis with Denver Parks & Recreation. He’s a USTA School Tennis Clinician, promoting tennis in schools K-12, at 9News Health Fairs, and Diversity TennisFest Series. Hugo is a QuickStart and Cardio Tennis instructor. He was published in the USPTA Intermountaineer and CTA Tennis Newspaper for his article “Mini Tennis.” He was awarded the USPTA Intermountain Star Award in February 2010 for his grassroots tennis work. He was also part of the USTA Colorado “Vive tu Juego” TV commercial in 2009 with kids at the Ricardo Flores Magon Academy, where he taught for several years. In addition to teaching, Hugo is often found competing on the court as an avid NTRP 4.5 level tournament and league player.

 

Wayne Emerick

Program Advisor
Wayne is a USA Tennis High Performance Coach as well as a USPTA P1 Professional. He was Head Coach for 14 years of the USTA Albany NY Competition Training Center. He served as Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach at Union College (Schenectady, NY) from 2003-2005 and as Head Men’s Coach at Colorado College in 2008. Wayne was a statistical match analyst at ATP tour events for 10 years working for ESPN and Sports Software. He is a former USTA Eastern Coach of the Year and two time USPTA Eastern High School Coach of the Year. Wayne is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Cornell University Johnson School of Management (MBA).

 

Allen Kiel

Volunteer Coach
Allen is a lifelong tennis enthusiast and former USPTA pro with over 10 years of experience volunteering as a tennis coach. For the past 20 years he has been highly involved in the governance structure of US tennis, serving in various roles including President of the Intermountain Tennis Association, USTA Executive Committee member, Chairman of the US Davis Cup, Chairman of the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) and President of the Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation, to name a few. Additionally, he was a collegiate player on scholarship at DePaul University and the University of Northern Colorado, garnering some impressive titles including #1 Singles and Doubles Champion in college, Champion of Chicago Men’s Doubles and Champion of Northern Illinois Men’s Doubles.

Any individuals, groups or organizations wishing to support the Denver Urban Youth Tennis Academy can do so by making contributions to the City Park Racquet Club. Donations to the CPRC are tax deductible since it is a 501C3 non profit organization. We are working to get video equipment to record players in training, a digital camera, supplement tournament support for players, tennis balls for training, tennis racquets, maintain website etc. People interested in contributing can be referred to the program Director Frank Adams at 303.513.4040 or via email at adams6297@aol.com.
